Print: Resting Place

I made this photograph a little less than a week ago when I took an eight mile hike from our house in Wilmette to Half Price Books in Highland Park, where Katie works. I took a shortcut through and old nature preserve and found a couple of old, rotting picnic tables sitting well off the beaten path. I used my Pentax LX with a 35mm f2 lens, and Ilford Delta 400 film. The physical print is 7x10 inches.

Thanks for looking!

Print: Monolith

I made this print this evening in my darkroom. The subject is a large pillar of cement that's part of what's left of a demolished overpass in Evanston, Illinois. I used my Pentax LX with a 100mm 2.8 lens and Kodak Tri-X 400 film. I used a yellow filter to darken the sky a bit for some added contrast.

Thanks for looking!

Print: Crusty Roof

I made this print a couple of weeks ago in my darkroom. The subject is an old roof/facade on a  building in downtown New Orleans. I found it interesting that this old historic building had so much ugly modern fixturing attached to it. I used my Olympus Pen FT with a 38mm lens and Kodak Tri-X 400 film. The physical print is 5x7 inches.

Print: Open Studio

I created this print last night of a negative I made while in New Orleans. New Orleans has a very active artist community, with dozens of studios and galleries in the French Quarter alone. I took this photo on the first night of our visit, when we saw an artist putting the finishing touches on a painting. He was in his studio with the window open (It was a breezy fifty degree January evening), sipping on his beer (sitting on the windowsill). I used my Olympus Pen FT with a 38mm lens and Kodak Tri-X 400 film. The physical print is 5x7 inches.
